- Scrubs
Machine wash warm.
Tumble dry low or medium.
Remove from dryer promptly at end of cycle.
Non-chlorine bleach only.
DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER.
- The fabric softener "plugs" the functionality of the Dri-release® fabric, preventing the
moisture wicking/quick dry performance feature. Scrubs do not need ironing.
Stains come out very easily with common household stain removers.
- Products such as Oxi Clean or Spray'Wash® work great.
- We recommend hydrogen peroxide for blood stains, and Amodex® for ink stains.
- Lab Coats
Machine wash warm OR dry clean (personal preference).
Non-chlorine bleach only.
- Regular bleach will discolor the inside seam binding.
Tumble dry low or hang.
Medium iron as needed.
- Many ask (because of the High IQ Easy Care Plus) do I need to iron my lab coat? The answer depends on your personal preference. We typically tell people that if you tend to iron your khakis or your jeans, then you'll probably want to iron your lab coat. A quick press or steam gives the coat an especially professional appearance, in our opinion.
Stain removal recommendations as below. You'll find the performance features of the Advanced Dual Action Teflon® fabric protector allow water and oil based spills to be repelled by an invisible molecular barrier around the individual fibers. Liquid spills (including blood) bead up and roll off, and any residue can be easily wiped away. Ground in stains are quickly released during laundering or dry cleaning.
- We recommend pre-treating blood stains with hydrogen peroxide.
- Amodex® is a miracle for removing ink stains from lab coats.
Other Q&A related to medelita lab coat care:
- How long will the Advanced Dual Action Teflon® fabric protector last? It has very good performance out to 20 home washes, and we see benefits up to 40 or 50 washes. The nanotechnology that benefits the wearer is "recharged" by heat. So the heat of the dryer or the heat of the iron actually helps to prolong the life of the repel and release technology.
- My original lab coat says "dry cleaning recommended" but my new coat has different instructions. Why is that? We recently changed the tags to include more thorough instructions for both home laundering and dry cleaning. We thought (originally) that dry cleaning would be more convenient, but soon realized that most women prefer to home launder their lab coats.
- Do I need to choose a certain type of dry cleaner? We recommend that you use a cleaner that has switched to environmentally friendly/eco-friendly chemicals, as dirty solvents tend to "block" the stain resistant features (especially oil repellency) over time, decreasing the effectiveness of the performance fabric.
