Name:. Lizzii Le, MS-4
Title:. 4th Year Medical Student
Location:. Doral, FL
School/Program:. American University of Antigua
Currently Wearing: The Elizabeth B. Athletic Fit Lab Coat
Why did you choose your profession?:
I am a first generation American so I always knew I wanted to become successful in life to support my family. I fell in love with medicine when I was visiting my sick grandma in Vietnam. I noticed that there were people not being treated merely because they could not afford it. Patients were laying on the side of the road begging to see the doctors but were ultimately shooed away. I promised myself that I would become a doctor to one day go back to my home country to do philanthropy work. I believe everyone is entitled to healthcare, no matter what.
Current Passion Project:
Right now, I'm enjoying sharing my road to MD via my social media channels with updates, motivations and tips for other medical students.
Who was/is your inspiration?
I am inspired by my family. My parents sacrificed everything to come to America and give me the life that they thought I deserved. I know that I am here and I will reach my end goal because of their love and support.
Fun Fact 1:
Besides being a medical student, I am a freelance model! I love to get dressed up and take fun pictures. And to be honest, the side hustle helps pay the bills sometimes!
Fun Fact 2:
I can lick my elbow!! This is always my go-to party trick!
Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field?
My advice would be to make sure you’re in love with it. I have seen too many peers go into it without the passion and they have fallen short. If you’re pursing medicine to become rich, pick something else. This is not the way to go! I’m not even done yet and I’ve already racked up $300,000 in loans! Haha.
