Brooke Caperton, PharmD

Name: Brooke Caperton, PharmD

Title: Pharmacist

Location: Clearwater, FL

School/Program: University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy

Currently Wearing: The Vera G. Slim Fit Lab Coat

Why did you choose your profession?:
I’ve always felt the calling to work in healthcare. I want to have a career that helps people and makes a difference. My mom and my grandmother were both nurses, but I’m the first pharmacist in my family.

Current Passion Project:
I’m very passionate about equality in all areas: gender, race, religion, health statuses. I’m hoping to soon be volunteering in my community with the HIV/AIDS population because I’ve always had a special interest in this area and the barriers that this patient population has to often face.

Who was/is your inspiration?
I’ve had so many people help me in big and small ways over the years. My grandpa was my best friend and always encouraged me to follow my dreams of making a difference in the world. He passed away before getting to see me get into pharmacy school.

Fun Fact 1:
I have a BCA national championship in women’s 8 ball.

Fun Fact 2:
I’m working on getting my NASM certified personal trainer certification.

Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field?
Don’t be discouraged by news of oversaturation of jobs or others’ opinions of pharmacy. If it is what you’re passionate about, you owe it to yourself to pursue that passion!
