Kimberly Brown, MD
Name: Kimberly Brown, MD, MPH
Title: Emergency Medicine Physician
Location: Memphis, TN
School/Program: Ross University School of Medicine/University of Tennessee Health Science Center
Currently Wearing: The Rebecca Slim Fit Premium Stretch Lab Coat
Why did you choose your profession?:
After many years of wanting to become an OBGYN, I learned about Emergency Medicine as a public health student in Ecuador. After spending time in Accident and Casualty at a public hospital, I was fascinated how the supervising physician and resident were so easily able to move from complaint to complaint. They seemed to be able to take care of ANYONE. I realized then that that was the type of doctor I wanted to be. I love taking care of anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Current Passion Project:
I'm very passionate about community service and supporting other IMGs in their journey to practicing medicine in the US. I am a dedicated member of the Junior League of Memphis, and I've been a part of the organization for 4 years. I also recently started a brand to encourage and support IMGs called, Still MD. We have a book launching on January 23 as well as other products coming down the pipeline.
Who was/is your inspiration?
My mother and grandmother are my inspirations. My grandmother, was born and raised in Utica, Mississippi and was the first in our family to obtain a high school diploma. My mother became the first one in our family to go to college and obtained a Bachelors' degree and two Masters' degrees. I am the first and only physician in my family. My mother and grandmother laid out the path of success for me.
