Artemis Medical Society announced on April 27th that Medelita has donated 22 medical lab coats in support of their National Pre-Med Club Initiative pilot program in Fort Worth Independent School District’s 82 elementary schools. The donation of medical lab coats by Medelita will be used to support Fort Worth ISD teachers and students in the implementation of the pre-med club curriculum.
“We are honored to receive support from Medelita for the National Pre-Med Club initiative,” said Dr. Deonza Thymes, Vice President of Programming, Artemis Medical Society. “Being able to provide the teachers with medical apparel, materials and equipment is crucial to engaging the 1977 fourth grade students currently completing the pre-med curriculum. We know that being able to put on a medical lab coat, a scrub top and touch real medical equipment brings the curriculum alive and helps inspire the students to pursue their studies in math and science.”
“Working with medical professionals each and every day, we believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to support pre-med students of all ages and backgrounds” said Dan Stepchew, Chief Marketing Officer, Medelita. “Medelita is truly honored for the opportunity to help the next generation of scientists realize and achieve their dreams.”
“Medelita is the leader in medical apparel and to have their support is amazing” said Dr. Myiesha Taylor, President, Artemis Medical Society. “The women physicians of Artemis Medical Society understand that our dreams to become a physician started when we were young students and we received encouragement from our parents, teachers, mentors and community. Providing these students with the opportunity to embrace their dreams by wearing a medical lab coat can be crucial in their path to becoming a physician. Medelita’s donation will reach thousands of students and help encourage these students to become our nation’s next generation of physicians.”
