Name: Michael Moses, MD

Title: Orthopedic Surgeon

Location: New York, NY

School/Program: NYU School of Medicine

Currently Wearing: The Bernard Slim Fit Lab Coat

Why did you choose your profession?:
I have always had an interest in medicine. It was only after I had shadowed an orthopaedic surgeon that I fell in love with the field. Ortho is focused on restoring quality of life for patients and you can really have a direct positive impact on patients.

Current Passion Project:
I am focused on medical education and research

Who was/is your inspiration?
A big part of my inspiration was finding mentors early on who embodied the characteristics I hoped to achieve as a future surgeon. They cared for those around them compassionately, were knowledgeable, and technically skilled. Without those role models I would not have been able to succeed.

Fun Fact 1:
I was a music composition major at Princeton.

Fun Fact 2:
I climbed a volcano while vacationing in Chile.

Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field?
I think the biggest piece of advice is to stay on this journey and look at the big picture. Each day may seem long and difficult, but the ability to help those who need it most is the most rewarding aspect of being a physician.
