Name: Sukaina Hasnie, MD
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
School/Program: Saint James School of Medicine
Currently Wearing: The Ionic Scrub Jacket
Why did you choose your profession?:
My younger brother has bilateral cochlear implants. I wanted the purpose of my life to be to give others the possibility of hearing. I wanted to be able to change the lives of families as his ENT doctor did for us.
Current Passion Project:
Women in medicine is extremely important to me, specifically in ENT. There is a lacking number of female ENT surgeons. I aim to raise awareness of the field itself and change the stigma that being a surgeon does not fit into the expectations that come with being a female.
Who was/is your inspiration?
My parents have always supported me. They have dealt with my mood swings while studying for exams, as well as celebrated with me when I did well. Without my family I would not be here.
Fun Fact 1:
I have traveled to over 30 countries and plan my vacations each year to include at least 1 out of country trip. I like to plan my own trips rather then take on a preplanned tour.
Fun Fact 2:
I love to cook. It is my biggest stress reliever.
Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field?
Apply! Everyone seems to fear ENT because it is known to be competitive, but all that we are really looking for is well rounded people.
