Why did you choose your profession?:
I choose a career in Emergency Medicine because it is a humanistic, inquisitive field that offers the opportunity to support patients through their most vulnerable moments. It’s exhilarating that there is no monotony; I crave the fluidity of seeing bread-and-butter cases, to performing procedures, to running codes. It is also intellectually riveting and empowering being exposed to a wide breath of patient pathology, and even more fulfilling when you’ve helped patients overcome a very stressful period of their lives. Additionally, I seek to become a part of a team, where the commitment of all members to the common goal of patient care is supported by the mutual respect and clarity each individual has brought. Teamwork is the foundation of a strong emergency room, where you must rely on each other to be the best you can for your patients.

Current Passion Project:
Once I establish myself as an attending physician, I hope to become a more active member of the global health community. My Master’s in International Health has helped me develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the global healthcare issues; furthermore, participating in a medical mission in Ecuador has refined my areas of interest in the global medical community by reminding me the importance of aiding underdeveloped countries most in need.

Who was/is your inspiration?
My parents have always driven me to be my best and they have helped guide me to where I am today.

Fun Fact 1:
I was a competitive cheerleader and have traveled around the country for national competitions.

Fun Fact 2:
I started playing piano at age 7 :)

Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field?
Being in medicine is a privilege and serving patients should be your passion. Remember what you are working towards and never forget that.
